SIMPLE GREEN Review and GIVEAWAY!!!!

CONTEST CLOSED
These guys were Green, before "Green" was a term I think. I can remember my Mom using the dark green spray back when I was little. I have used it in my home since I've been out on my own.
*
I haven't tried their Naturals Line. When I got the chance to work with Simple Green on this newer product family, I was really looking forward to it. It's one of those companies I already trust and use, so trying new stuff is like a fun, new twist on a dear old friend.
All the products in the naturals line are made from 100% naturally derived ingredients, are non-toxic, biodegradable & never tested on animals.
*
And congrats to Simple Green for recently receiving the GREEN SEAL certification!! What does Green Seal Certification mean? - Green Seal identifies products that are designed and manufactured in an environmentally responsible manner; offers scientific analyses to help consumers make educated purchasing decisions regarding environmental impacts; ensures consumers that any product bearing the Green Seal Certification Mark has earned the right to use it; and encourages manufacturers to develop new products that are significantly less damaging to the environment than their predecessors.
*
This means that Simple Green Naturals really are what they say they are - simple & green.
You will notice when you use these products that you feel good just using them. They work really well, they have a natural - no perfumed scent, and they are clear, with no unnecessary added colors. When my children use the hand wash, I know that there are no un-pronounceable going into their bloodstream and that makes me happy.
*
If we would all start using vegetable based cleansers like Simple Green, can you imagine the difference we could make?! Did you know if every household in the U.S. replaced just one bottle of 28-ounce petroleum-based dishwashing liquid with a vegetable-based product, we could save 82,000 barrels of oil a year? This is enough oil to drive a car over 86 million miles! That's just one bottle!!
*
I am a forever friend of Simple Green and I hope you will be too !

PIGGY PAINT GIVEAWAY!! GREAT FOR EASTER :))

CONTEST CLOSED
I am a mommy to two boys. As wonderful as they are, I have never had the fun of buying sweet dresses, fixing ponytails, or painting piggy toes. I have 8 siblings, and out of 8, I have one sister. So when she finally had two little girls, it was a welcome change in this big family of boys!

One of those little girls is my niece Haylie :) She is a sweet little monkey, who has become quite fond of coming to Aunt Jamaise's house for the day :) I knew that she would be so excited to come over and have girlie time with me & Piggy Paint.

We decided to have oranges & tea while we did our fingers & toes. It was a fun little party.

We used the color - Girls Rule. And it is true - girls do rule!! I was amazed at the scent - or lack of. It's so mild, you won't believe it's nail polish. And the polish remover, it has NO scent - none. I really couldn't believe this. The paint dried to a cute shiny pink color, that Haylie had so show everyone :))

Our family is big on living chem free & non toxic. Piggy Paint is perfect - no toxic chemicals to get into the bloodstream.

My dear Grandmother will absolutely love this product. She has reactions to regular nail polish & remover, so we were never allowed to paint our nails around her. She'll be amazed.

Why is Piggy Paint™ Nail Polish the safe nail polish choice for children?
*Non-toxic
*Odorless
*Water-based formula
*Hypoallergenic
*Fun, vibrant colors
*Dries to a hard, durable finish

Natural As Mud!!!

Keep in mind that Piggy Paint would make a nice Easter Basket gift that you can feel good about. I am hoping to have the prize reach the winner in time to add it to an Easter basket :))

The Monster at the End of This Post

What did that say? In the title, what did that say?

Did that say there will be a monster at the end of this post????

IT DID? Oh, I am so scared of Monsters!!!

SHHHHHHHHHH Listen, I have an idea. If you do not read any further, we will never get to the end of this post.

And that is good, because there is a monster at the end of this post.

- so please do not read any further

YOU READ FURTHER!

Ok - I'd like to tie this post to the last one with rope, so you can not read any further. I have no rope.

I'd also like to nail this post to the last one, so we don't get closer to the end of this post, but I think that would damage something.

Or maybe I could build a heavy, thick, solid, strong brick wall. That would stop you. But I've heard that can leave a big mess.

So I will just say that the next paragraph is the end of this post, and there is a monster at the end of this post. I am so Scared! Please do not read any further.

Please

Please

Please

Well look at that! This is the end of the post and the only one here is this monster of a prize from Dad blogs! And you were so scared! I told you and told you there was nothing to be scared of!

- Oh, I'm so embarrassed....

Grover, what the heck are you doing here???

I found a new site called ArtPad that I'm really having fun with. Maybe too much fun. Ju is loving it and he & his cousin are trading their art back and forth on messenger :)
Here's Julien's first go - I think it's pretty cute :)
And here's mine :) ????
I think it's pretty fun - the playback feature is the best part. You can use anything from a pencil to a big paint brush, and you can adjust the paint can for big or small splatters. Play with the opacity slide to change the tone.
Just wanted to share with you.
Have funn!!!

DEMETER FRAGRANCE REVIEW & GIVEAWAY!!!

I am really excited about this review and giveaway. I even mentioned Demeter Fragrances in my profile random question! Demeter's fragrance library is extensive. Really extensive. Nearly every scent you can think of- they have it.

Scent has a strong connection with memory. My most recent experience with this was at a department store. I was in the cosmetic area and I smelled a familiar scent. It was almost like deja vu. I couldn't figure out where I knew this scent from. It was driving me nuts. Later that night at home, I could still recall that smell, even though I was away from it. Finally it came to me that it was the smell of a facial cleanser my Mother had used when I was very small. Memories I didn't even know I had came flooding back to me. I remembered what the bathroom looked like and that I was sitting on the floor watching my Mom scrub her face in the mirror. I even remember a little vase that sat by the sink. Ha! That smell triggered all of that - I had no idea I even remembered those things!
With scents like Birthday Cake, Bonfire, Christmas Tree, Crayon, Dandelion, Pipe Tobacco and for me the familiar smell of the incense of a Catholic Church - Holy Smoke. These are the singular scents that take your memories back to a certain place or time.

They generous people at Demeter gave me the privilege of trying three of their newest scents -

Mahogany:

A deep, rich, full bodied exotic wood scent, with a touch of spice.Pretty much what a man should smell like.

Hershey's Special Dark:

An absolutely sensual and indulgent chocolate fragrance. Deep, rich and exotic.

White Bouquet :

The beautiful scent of our White Bouquet was inspired by the softest and most delicate white flowers we could find.An utterly romantic white floral scent for anyone who likes the scent or memories created by freshly cut white flowers.

Demeter's fragrances are natural, they subscribe to the philosophy that says that their products should be as natural and as sustainable as possible. This means :

*No secondary packaging that you rip apart and then throw out
*No artificial colors
*No binders
*No emulsifiers

As you know - that's important to me :))

Now being the generous people that they are, they are offering another set of the three fragrances I tried, to give away to my readers. So, because I think more is better, I am going to have three winners.

WIN IT!!

You tell me which scent you'd like to try out of the three that I reviewed, and I'll pick a winner for each scent. How about that! This entry must be done first!

EXTRAS:

*Head over to Demeter Fragrance Library- browse through their selection of scents. There are over 200, but it's so much fun. Comment here on which scent you'd most like to try. It Will be tough!

*Tell me where they get their name sake from

*Follow my blog

* Blog it & leave the link

*Add my button to your side bar :))

Giveaway will end on April 2, at 11:59 pm EST. Winner will be selected using Random .org. I will email the winner & you will have 48 hours to reply back before I draw a new winner . Please remember to leave me your email address if it is not visible on your profile so that I can contact you if you win. Good luck to everyone :)))

***** OBAMA BUNDLE GIVEAWAY *****

I'm not going to go into politics here. There is enough written politically right now & he is in office, so I won't say much. I will say I supported Barack Obama from the beginning. I worked hard to get him in office, because I believe him. That's it - I believe him. He appears earnest, genuine, and comfortable - that puts me at ease. I believe in his vision for America. Hard work this man has asked for himself. I strongly believe if he can't do it, no one can.

He shook my hand. In little old Marion Indiana. In our High School Gym. No other candidate did that. To me, that speaks volumes.

************************************************************************************

This giveaway is for a super little bundle of President Obama products. I will draw two winners.

There are three shops I am going to feature. They have been so kind to me that I want to expose their work to all of you - I want you to remember them if you ever need goods like they sell. Bookmark them for latter if you like what they do.

First is BLACKBIRD LETTERPRESS. I can't tell you just how amazing her work is. She was so easy & pleasant to work with. When her package arrived here in the mail, I was in awe & even framed her business card - it was that lovely.

Next is OBAMABAGS. This company is so cool. You see I have all kinds of campaign products & I have never seen bags like this. When talking on the phone to the owner, I learned that the fabric used to make the bags comes from Kenya & was made by locals in their support of the then candidate. His grandmother lives in Kenya - what a great tie in.

Last, but not least is OUTSIDE OF THE BOX. A fellow Hoosier and close by as a matter of fact leaves me feeling really good about working with this shop. I mean how can it not be good if it's from Indiana, we even voted the right way this time!! She was so generous - I couldn't believe all the shirts she sent. I have been wearing a cute pink & brown one and my 5 year old even has an Obama shirt now.

WIN IT!!
Each bundle includes a mini tote from obamabags.com like pictured above , a notebook with Obama's likeness from Blackbird Letterpress, and a tee shirt from Outside Of the Box. Plus I'll throw in some campaign materials for historical keepsakes.

For this giveaway, since there are three shops, I will ask that you visit each link - come back here & tell me another product in each shop that you like. I will give 5 entries for that step - you MUST do that step to enter. You will put that entry into ONE post. I will count it 5 times.

BE SURE TO ENTER MY TWIST GIVEAWAY BELOW!!

EXTRAS:

TWIST Natural Cleaning Products Review & Giveaway

- They clean dishes, respect the planet, and look good doing it.

I was so excited to have the chance to review TWIST products. Eco friendly, neutral colored sponges & cloths, that reduce the use of disposables - I LOVE IT! I was not disappointed. In the box was everything I would need to replace my usual cleaning stuff. I was so excited to try them, that I started a load of dishes right away!

I know! I don't think I've ever been excited to do dishes.

I've now had time to use all the products that they sent and I am very pleased.

LOOFAH SPONGE - Sponge on one side, loofa on the other. Replaced my green & yellow scrubbie and does just as well at stuck on gunk, even pots and pans.

LOOFAH SCRUBBY - All loofa, no sponge. Replaced my green all scrubbie pad. Down and dirty scrubbin - I'm talkin Lasagna pan. Yeah - it is tough enough for that job.

DISH DUMPLING - This is the big guns. This would replace an SOS pad. Gets off that last bit that you think will never come off - that's what this is for. Made of tough Agave twine.

Now to the softer side... ah :)

BAMBOO CLOTH - I love this cloth. This replaces paper towels. I use one for windows and glass surfaces, and one for dusting with oils and wood surfaces. It's really soft and large in size.

EUROPEAN SPONGE CLOTH - I received two sizes. I haven't used the big size, but the small ones are excellent. Super absorbent, like a sponge, only thin like a cloth. One of these bad boys outlasts 17 rolls of paper towels!! Yeah that is awesome. The ones you'll get are white, not blue.

SPONGE BLOSSOMS - These cuties are dehydrated sponges on a rope. They're small ,so you can just hang them around. I've got mine in the bathroom, which is great for having separate bathroom sponges. They're all ready to go. Just add water and you have a full sized sponge! Kids love this concept!

To keep everything fresh & clean, all TWIST products are dishwasher safe so you can refreshen them again & again. Or pop them into the microwave when damp for 1 minute - to disinfect. All TWIST products are 100 % biodegradable so you could actually toss them into the compost when they're kaput!

AND... as a little upcycled bonus, the insides of the wrappers, include templates for either bird feeders or bird mobiles. I made a bird feeder, which my birds did use! I cut the birds out for the mobile, and used them as templates for my card making! I'll send a "twist bird" card to the lucky winner - they're cute :))

SO, for the good part :

WIN IT!!

TWIST graciously sent me two of everything! One set for me and one set for a lucky winner! You'll get a 2 pak of Loofah Sponges, a Loofah Scrubby, a Dish Dumpling, a 3 pak of Bamboo Cloths, a 3 pak of the large Sponge Cloths (white), a Euro Sponge (white), a 4 pak of Sponge Blossoms.

*TO ENTER- just take a look at their site so that you are familiar with it & tell me one thing that struck you about TWIST. Easy, right?

* EXTRAS-

*Add my button to your blog!! I finally have a button!!!!

*Blog about this review/giveaway - leave me the URL

*Follow my blog

*Tweet this review/giveaway at Twitter - leave me URL

Good Old Fashioned Razor Review & Giveaway

In thinking of ways I can lessen my burden on the environment, I have been mentally reviewing everything we use here in our daily lives & trying where I can, to make better choices. I don't think my family will ever be completely green, but I realize that most things better for the environment, are also better for you - healthfulness is a very important factor in how I raise my children & how my life runs.

So, when I got to "shaving" on that mental list, I realized that my razor with it's disposable head, leaves more junk in the landfill than I'd like to admit comes from me.

I was instantly taken back to my pawpaw's razor, he had the same razor since I can remember, always on the same spot on the bottom shelf in the bathroom. It was silver and he always had it. He never threw it away or got a new one - he changed the blade, that's all. The blade was a blade, that's all, no plastic housing with triple blades and comfort strip. I knew this would be a much better choice.

I contacted ClassicShaving.com. They confirmed that yes,the double edge razors, like what my Grandfather used, are far better for the environment and for your pocket. They graciously sent me a Deluxe Vintage Safety Razor to sample. Instructing me to press very lightly when using it.

I have to tell you how much I love it. The first thing I noticed was how good it felt in my hand. The weight of it - like good silverware. Second , and most importantly was the nice shave. I used very little pressure - came out with legs like silk. The best part is knowing that it is a minimalistic product that I will have forever and it will lessen the amount of waste I contribute to this Earth :))

I love finding products that I feel really good about using. I like passing the info on to you, so that maybe at sometime, you will find the occasion to need a product that I have suggested, and remember my suggestion when purchasing. That is how I did a lot of my Christmas shopping this past year, based on what other real people had to say about a product. I would much rather be guided by another real Mom than a marketing sales pitch. This form of advertisement is important and I'm glad that I'm becoming a part of it :)

Aren't Grandpas great by the way??

WIN IT!!

I have the opportunity, thanks to ClassicShaving.com to offer one reader the same wonderful razor that I am so happy to be using. You will also receive a 10 pack of blades. You won't be disappointed.

Remember that Father's Day is June 21st. Although awhile away, this would be a great gift that you can feel good about giving. Remember ClassicShaving.com. Shoot give one for Mother's Day too! I love mine and I'm a Momma :))

TO ENTER

*visit ClassicShaving.com & tell me something else that they carry that would be a better choice or just something that you'd like to own or gift someone
