Starting Over: Why the Last Decade was So Damn Rotten And Why the Next One Will Surely Be Better.
Isn't that the truth! The last decade has been a mess and this book does so well at taking you back year by year, reminding you of how bad it has been. Giving all the major headlines for each year of the decade.
I thought the author put it perfectly when he said "I know lots of good things happened in this decade. People fell in love, babies were born, great art & literature were created." Meaning that not much in the news was good at all.
The first part of the book is taking a factual look at the headlines that dominated our ten year timeline. The second part of the book titled "Starting Over", takes a look at how, and why we got ourselves into such a mess & why there is hope ahead. I like hope.
This is a non-partisan perspective and is a quick read that packs quite a punch. Loaded with tons of information and insight. You walk away feeling more educated. I read this in full during a trip to the ER.
Great book - I'm glad I own it. It's a great historical reference - one that will be good to show curious grandchildren and such.

I'd like to read this book because it seems interesting in that it tells about what's happened and what we can do to fix it. Thanks.

I'd like to read this because it is written by the managing editor of Fortume Magazine. He should have some interesting optimistic observations to share.

I would like to read Starting over to find another person's thoughts on how the past happenings have affected everyday life. What long term effects happened that no one thought would come about?

I would like to read this book because I am very interested in learning why the author feels the past decade was rotten and what he feels will be the solutions for a better decade.
Thanks for the chance!

I would like a better understanding of what went wrong, other than my own personal opinions, and how we can improve things.
