When I think of Valentine's Day, I either think of romance, or classroom parties. The latter is an American tradition most of us have been a part of. Full of white paper lunch sacks decorated with construction paper hearts all in red & pink - just waiting to be filled with class mate Valentine's Day greeting cards.

Typically those greetings will be based on current cartoon trends and can be found en mass at your local department store- they offer nothing personal except the spot for your child's little signature.

I couldn't wait to light my candle. As soon as it arrived, I trimmed the wick and got started. I mean, if you've got a diamond ring waiting inside, why wait?

I received the Fresh Snow scent. It's a nice, rich vanilla fragrance with a touch of mint.

By the time the top was all liquid, the house smelled of the rich scent. I went out to feed birds and when I came in, the house smelled so good.

I burnt it for a couple hours, for two days before the gold pouch with the ring surfaced.

See it down there in the bottom? I took a bamboo skewer and gently rocked it a little until it popped up and floated to the surface.

The ring is contained in a tiny zip lock bag, then wrapped in gold foil.

The ring I got isn't really my type, but we bought a couple of these for Christmas gifts and the ring I saw from those two gifts, is wonderful! I wish I would have gotten that one. More reason to keep trying!

The name Marzetti is synonymous with dressings and dips, perfect compliments for your salads, fruits, and vegetables.

I've always considered Marzetti a kind of specialty brand. I've grown up with Marzetti being located in the produce section of the grocery store, rather than being in the aisle with other dressing and sauces. Ooh yeah! This arrived just in time. Indiana winters are horid and while it has been mild so far, the Spring like weather is giving way to our more typical November tempatures. Snow expected here on Thursday and you can truely feel it.

This rug is beautiful. Absolutely. The pictures don't in any way do it justice.

It was so difficult to choose a design. Mohawk has such a huge selection. I changed my mind several times. My first choice would have been too dark, my second choice wasn't quite the right style, and this one, I was worried would be too busy. But we as a family voted and the Eason Dark Brown won out.

It arrived sooner than I expected. I was planning on having the carpet cleaned before I laid the rug. So patiently I left it wrapped in it's plastic until I could start fresh with clean carpet.
But I couldn't stand it any longer and when everyone was in bed, I came downstairs and cut away the plastic and unrolled this bad boy.

The colors are so vivid and there are subtle details that pictures can't capture. It's the most lovely rug I've ever owned.

Anyway, this is what they got to come downstairs to in the morning.

Sorry about the bad pictures. My camera is out and the iPad is all I got.

Also, sorry about the mess, but that's how it is.

I remember watching a home design show once that said a rug brings a room together. That it draws your eye to see the whole room connected. That is is what this rug has done for our living room.

It feels connected and we love our new space!

Sopapilla Cheesecake ~ Recipe ~ Yum!

This is the picture that tormented me all week. It started with just a tiny whisper and ended up screaming at me until I sent the honey to stop off and grab some cream cheese on the way home from work.

If you find yourself ( more often than you probably should ) at Pinterest, chances are you've seen this picture too. And, chances are it's tormented you as well.

It's easy to wip up - just be careful, it's richer than Oprah. And if you're having a serious craving, be warned that it takes awhile to cool.

Ingredients:
-3 cans pillsbury butter crescent rolls - they now make crescent sheets!
-2 (8oz) packages cream cheese (softened)
-1 cup sugar
-1 teaspoon vanilla
-1/4 cup butter (melted)
-Cinnamon & sugar

Instructions:
Unrolled and spread 1 & 1/2 can crescent rolls on bottom of un-greased pan. Combine softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla ( food processor was great here). Spread mixture over crescent rolls. Unroll and spread remaining crescent rolls over mixture. Spread melted butter over the top and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.

I melted my butter to liquid, but I think it would work better if butter was softened to spreadable - not pourable.

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat, please put a penny in the old man's hat... oh, excuse my singing, I get carried away when it comes to Christmas. And it's true, Christmas is coming. As of this moment, there are 74 days, 23 hours, and 48 minutes -which is roughly 2.5 months, but who's counting?

My Christmas preparations are divided into three sections - early out, Christmas tree, and late out.

The early outs are things that need taken care of before December ever hits. Things like preparing & sending holiday greeting cards, hanging outside lights, some of the indoor decor that helps get me into the spirit. This is the time we start writing out Christmas wish lists, start discussing menu's and baked goods & candies that we will be wanting. Time to do some deeper cleaning than normal - guest ready :)

Then comes the Christmas tree bins that include ornaments for the tree, garland, and wreaths - time to check the string lights and buy new if needed, bring poinsettia into the house, buy and trim the tree and deck the halls with garland. We buy real trees and so we wait until around the 10th of December to bring one home. This is when we trade babysitting duty within the family so each of of can do some secret shopping. I normally get all of the little ones one night for a snowball fight, cookies & cocoa, and Christmas movies snuggled warm under fluffy blankets - it's become a tradition.

The late outs include stockings, our traditional "Night Before Christmas" book, the tray we serve Santa his cookies and the reindeer their carrots on. All the things that are last minute. The big night is almost here!

The early out section is fast approaching. We have plans for family pictures next week that will adorn our holiday cards. Our cards this year will be from Tiny Prints. They just do it right. I think it's great when a product that I enjoy already, gives me even more reason to love them.

Freschetta makes really good frozen pizza. They use the better ingredients, so that you get a better pizza.

We always keep a couple in the freezer.

I love this stuff! Let me tell you about it. Our upstairs toilets have a problem staying clean. I do my part in keeping them clean, but it seems like they need it way more often than the down stairs toilet. It's like they get ring around the collar - almost like the water pressure isn't as good upstairs. Since using Flushy in all of my toilets, I am very happy to say that has not been a problem. It's like I have normal toilets upstairs!! Yay! Just drop the little bag in, wait for it to foam real good, and flush! That's it.

The same with Sinky. Now I haven't really had any problems with my sinks, but I do notice that the kitchen sink has been completely fresh, with no odors at all.

And Trashy is a trash bin crime fighter! As long as I spray a couple shots between trash bags, it's fresh sailing which means I don't have to scrub it out as often.

We are having an issue with sleeping right now. Well, we aren't, I sleep just fine. It's my 8 year old son who is. He's scared being in his room alone when the lights go out.

We have tried every method we can think of - assuring him there's nothing to fear, doing a scan over the whole room with lights on, taking him around showing him all doors and windows are secure, night lights - even cool color changing ones, making his bed into a cool tent, lying in bed with him until he falls asleep, I've even tried melatonin. I've gotten angry with him too and I don't want to do that - no one wants to be afraid.

So the other day, a cute little book arrived in the mail. Sock N Boots. I had no prior knowledge of these guys. We had just finished cleaning his bedroom, so as a fun finish, I offered to read him "Sock 'n Boots Adventures".

The first story in the book deals with sharing. Now typically we think of sharing as a toddler issue, but sharing can be hard for lots of kids no matter the age - my son included. So, this was a nice story to read.

It's laid out in a practical scenario so that it's not preach-y or even instructional. It puts the reader in the characters shoes ( ahem... boots ) in a very real and quite possible situation. It allows the reader to feel what it might be like if they were in that situation and how they would like to be treated if they were.

It was a great conversation starter as well. We talked about different possible outcomes and why it makes sense to share.

But the next story, ah the next story. When I read the title, he smiled and said "that's like me!" - afraid of the dark. As I read, he could relate to how Sock was feeling and could see how silly Sock was actually being. But sometimes, it's very comforting to know you're not alone and this book did that for Julien. It just seemed to ease a bit of that pressure.

He slept in his own bed last night with little trouble getting there. I wondered if he was thinking of Sock :)

"Sock 'n Boots Adventures", contains 3 stories and a coloring book section. I love the illustrations and the characters become friends by the time you're finished reading. I can't wait for more stories to follow!

Before I became a Momma, I was a product whore. Now that I am kid friendly, I still am, but we'll call it a product monster.

I am a product monster.

As we all know, the trouble with dishing out on products, is that it costs a lot to find those wow products that you truly love & need, and are happy to pay for each time they run out.

That is the shining moment in a product monster's habit - when the golden product is found - the one that makes your life easier. The one you recommend to family and friends, and sometimes complete strangers if you see them hovering close to said product in the store unable to decide. The one that smells so good.

I am used to using professional products on my hair. There is a difference in quality and just prefer professional.hair care. Creo is that. I can tell just by the scent that it's a high quality product.

I'm going to share a little story with you. It will show you just how passionate I am about cloth diapering, and maybe show you I'm a little crazy too!

I attended BlogHer this year. My little Capri goes everywhere with me, so it's just natural she would attend with me. She hopped a ride in the Ergo carrier and was the best travel buddy anyone could hope for!

In planning for what to pack, many suggested I just forgo the cloth and use disposables for the trip. It would be so much easier, right? I'll agree to the easy part, but I am a cloth diaper Mama and not only would it have felt bad, I write about and promote cloth diapering at my blog, so in attending a blogging event, I would feel pretty dishonest to abandon them just for convenience.

I packed all my favorite shells and inserts. I packed a LOT of them - most of my stash. You know, what if she gets a bad tummy? Or what if I have no way of washing them and I have to use a fresh start with each change? What if while I'm in San Diego a zombie apocalypse erupts and I have no access to electricity - I prepared for the worst.

I stayed at the Hard Rock. I bet their bathrooms have never seen anything like us before!

I ended up washing, by hand, each day, all of my inserts. I brought my diaper detergent and did a cold rinse and hot wash followed by a hot rinse. After ringing out as much of the moisture as I could by hand, I allowed them to hang in the shower all day while I was out and about. When in the evening I returned to my room and was ready to shower, I hung them on hangers in the closet over night to air dry the rest of the way.

I ended up with plenty, so never needed to use any of the hand washed diapers. I brought my wet bag so I brought all of them home in that. It turned out well - I didn't have to bring home any stinkies and was prepared for any diaper crisis that could have come my way!

BUT... and this is a big but. I could have averted all of that.

I hear some people use hybrids for their diapering system. I personally would not. I like the idea of washing and reusing cloth. That way I know exactly what is covering my baby's bottom and I know that I am contributing no diaper waste.

But for travel ,busy days, or emergencies these are PERFECT and I will now never be without a stash of GroVia biosoakers.

I personally am fascinated with this trend. All the colors and textures available - stacking them on your arm is to me, beautiful. Beautiful in a fun, casual kind of way. And the fact that Ralph Lauren is doing them too doesn't hurt!

It also doesn't hurt that I wore these back in their origin. Lots of good memories of making and trading friendship bracelets. I'm glad to see them again!
